Communities

Venture is serious about working with communities in areas where the Association operates and has supported many Residents’ Associations and voluntary groups with cash grants to improve their neighbourhoods.

A Community Resource Centre is provided at Ventures new head office where access to computer and internet facilities are available; space is also available for meetings of local Community Groups.

The Association and its partners, including the police and the fire service, enjoy working with local schools. Over the previous summer the children were taken to Newsham Park to raise awareness of the importance of their local environment. These days were also useful for the children to bond with the local Police, Fire Service, and the Park Rangers

E.L.E.I.T.

Venture Housing Association is currently working in partnership with the Green Apprentices to deliver the ELEIT Project (Eastern Link Environmental Improvement Team) for the next two and a half years. The project will cover the entire Eastern Link Pathways area and will seek to improve open land within the area and ensure the sustainability of Eastern Link.

The partnership will employ and train people from the local area in environmental improvements providing them with valuable skills that they can use to gain further employment. The project also seeks to fully engage the local community and welcomes any ideas for projects for the ELEIT team to carry out.

Welfare Rights & Debt Counselling Service

The Association also provides an independent welfare benefits advice & debt counselling service which has been a great success and has helped vulnerable members of our community. Since the project began in April 2005 the Welfare Benefits and Advice Centre has grown from strength to strength. On Average the advisor helps 10 people per week and to date has recovered over £100,000 in unclaimed benefits. The advisor will continue his flexible approach to the service offering home visits which will maximise the number of people he is able to support.
If you require the above service please contact Jimmy, our welfare benefits advisor on 07785706264
