Aids and Adaptations
What is an Adaptation?
An adaptation can be a piece of specialist equipment, an extra fitting or a minor alteration to your home.
For example, we will consider providing and installing :
- Grab rails
- Over bath shower
- Lever taps
and many others.

What happens next
We will contact you within 10 days to let you know we have received your request and explain what happens next.
For minor things, such as taps or grab rails, we will deal with your request and do the work. For larger adaptations it may be necessary to apply to your local council for a disabled facilities grant, we can help you with this process.
How long will it take
We have divided adaptations into three categories according to priority :
Category 1 - critical adaptation. Timescale 3 months. This is an adaptation that is needed urgently because you would not cope in your home without it.
Category 2 - non-critical adaptation. Timescale 8 months. This is an adaptation that enables you to cope more easily in your home.
Category 3 - minor adaptation. Timescale 1 month. This is any relatively simple adaptation that will help you do normal everyday tasks in your home.
